I understand your frustration. The delay in releasing Chapter 3 is frustrating for me too. And… there are things that are not in my control. Or at least not within my control without me pouring out a lot time and cash for a new artist search (with paid test pages)— and I’m not there yet.

I also understand your frustration with not receiving updates about the status of Chapter 3. While I have continued to be open about the status of Chapter 3 here in the comments of this blog, in the comments of my webcomic Artifice, on Twitter and on Facebook, I haven’t been sending out emails to the mailing list about its status. The truth is, that there is no such thing as “a little message” to that list. It has now over 20,000 members and to send out a mailing to that list requires that I use a professional Email Service Provider which means it costs me hundreds of dollars. And to spend hundreds of dollars just to send a message saying “Chapter 3 isn’t ready yet and I don’t know when it will be” didn’t feel like it made a lot of sense to me. Perhaps I was wrong in that thinking, but with my current financial situation, it’s the choice I made.

Tough is a story that is close to my heart and it is heart-breaking to me that there have been delays. As sagewhistler suggested, I would be sorry to lose you, but I’ll understand if you feel you cannot in good conscience continue to read my work because of this.

For my other readers who are still interested in hearing about Mike and Rob, though, I will say that I am continuing to look for ways to finish this chapter that I’ve already paid thousands of dollars in art costs for. No matter what Chapter 3 will be finished. And I will absolutely shoot off a lot of flares (and an email) when I have a firm idea about when that will happen. :)

A threat to abandon the site if you don't get your way borders on childish. I'm sure Alex will hate to see you go, but he has a life outside of this comic as well as the artist who draws for him.
