I hope you’re having a good March! For those of you who are fans of my science-fiction webcomic Artifice, I have some good news and a sneak peek at a beautiful Artifice wallpaper folks who have signed up for my mailing list are now able to download.
First the good news!
You can now get a printed copy of Artifice!
Thanks to the reader-supported Kickstarter campaign, I was able to print gorgeous, jumbo-sized (8.5″ x 11″) copies of Artifice on really nice glossy paper. The books will be shipping on May 1st and you can now pre-order your copy of Artifice on Amazon right now.
And that means our little sci-fi comic is finally getting reviews in the mainstream press! Publishers Weekly calls Artifice an “emotional winner” where “the narrative grips the reader from the first panel to the last, treating the audience to a moving rumination on love, free will, sexuality, and the question of whether a machine can feel.” The Midwest Book Review calls Artifice a “striking, vivid, and memorable graphic novel” that “will keep the reader fascinated to the final page.” (You can read more reviews here.)
Of course, if you’re reading this blog, you probably know all that for yourself. (And you can still read the entire Artifice story for free online if you want to check it out again!) A lot of you have written me asking when and how you can get a printed copy of Jeff and Deacon’s story. Well, (finally!) now you can!
Pre-order Artifice on Amazon and be first in line when they start shipping on May 1st!
Get me to sign your copy at Wondercon 2013!
I’m going to selling a limited number of advance copies of Artifice books and prints at the Prism booth at Wondercon 2013 in Anaheim, CA from March 29 through March 31st. I’ll have buttons and keychains for my super-hero webcomic The Young Protectors too. It’s been incredibly fun getting a chance to meet y’all at Emerald City Comicon, AhnCon, YaoiCon and BENT-CON over the past few months. If you think you can make it, please stop by and say hi!
(Also, I’m going to be going to a bunch of other conventions over the next 12 months—maybe even one close to you! You can check out my Conventions page to learn about my upcoming Con schedule.)
A brand new Artifice wallpaper for readers to download!
I continue to hear back from my mailing list subscribers that they’ve enjoyed the other wallpapers I’ve sent them. Well, for the Kickstarter campaign, I commissioned Artifice artist Winona Nelson to digitally paint two scenes starring Deacon and Jeff. The first one was a special “Happy Ending” moment not found in the comic that I pictured in my head and wanted to share with all the readers. I wanted a happy, intimate, safe-for-work scene with beautiful, striking colors. How did Winona do with that request? Judge for yourself!
Here’s what it looks like (click to enlarge):
(I created different version of that image for different sizes of computer screens and mobile devices. Subscribers of the Yaoi 911 News & Downloads list get to download those for free. If you’d like to get those things too, you can sign up for my mailing list on this page.)
Thank you so much for your interest in my comics. Your kind words and support really make creating these comics worth all the hard work. It really means the world to me. And I’d love to hear what you think about the new Artifice painting in the comments!
