Yikes, I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble. I’ve only heard a few reports of folks not seeing the Welcome Email (which contains the links) and many have had luck by checking their Spam/Junk folder. Did you take a look in there?

And… thank you for all your kind words! They are very much appreciated. Yep, I use the term “yaoi” to make things clear that these stories are meant just as much for women as for men (and that there will be a strong characterization/plot focus). I’m glad to hear that’s working for you.

I also wanted to say thanks for all this great work! I’m really glad it’s free, because since Borders closed I can’t go browse random yaoi mangas anymore, and I really like to check the art/storyline before I buy a comic (although Borders sometimes wrapped them in plastic so I do own a couple of bad yaoi mangas). I also think it’s really great that you utilize the word ‘yaoi’, even though these works are not manga. I think that term is much better than saying “it’s a gay comic” because that can be confusing and/or have negative connotations, depending on who says/hears it. So good on you! I’m looking forward to seeing how Artifice develops, and I can’t wait for the next chapter of Tough!

As for MegaUpload, you're right — I did not authorize "A Shot in the Dark" to be hosted there. While I am delighted when our fans share our free comics with their friends — yes, please spread the word and send them here! ;-D — posting our comics on places like MegaUpload and BitTorrent does undercut the work we do here. And, because U.S. Copyright law demands that I vigorously defend my copyright or I lose it, it means I have to ask them to remove those links — which I just did.

Thank you, Sam, for letting me know. I'm sure those who posted the comic there did it with the best of intentions — sharing their love of our work — but it's not the right way to do it. And, FWIW, they converted our comic into a CBR file which deletes the helpful hyperlinks in our PDFs and is of lower quality visually, so those who have downloaded from MegaUpload aren't getting to see our best work, which is a shame. We want our fans to receive the highest quality. And when I tried to download it, I had to wait 45 seconds and there were some skanky pop-up ads. Subscribers to our list avoid all of that and get instant downloads. That's the experience I want our fans to have.

Whenever I find something particularly interesting I do some research with google, and I stumbled upon something that might interest you:

I do not know if it is permitted to post links within a comment, but I assumed that you don't host your comics on megaupload, so someone else probably put it there. Since you seemed to invest quite a bit of work and time in creating those comcs it seems unfair that someone goes around spreading them in the net.
